Kneeling thoracic stretch (Mobility)
Kneeling thoracic stretch (Mobility)
What you should feel?? When performed correctly, you will feel a stretch in your thoracic spine. It may be very strong, or mild depending on your current flexibility or how far you are pushing the movement.
Instructions:
- Start in a kneeling position, with one arm bent and hand by the side of your head
- Take the bent elbow in towards the opposite arm
- and then rotate the upper body to take the bent elbow up towards the ceiling
- Continue for the agreed amount of sets and reps
Main muscles targeted:
- Thoracic spine
Main benefits:
This exercise is designed to safely and gradually increase your mobility/ movement in the thoracic spine and upper lumbar region. Increased mobility can have an injury prevention effect and also prevent chronic stiffening due to a lifestyle that restricts movement in this area.
