Seated thoracic rotations

What you should feel?? When performed correctly, you will feel a stretch at the lower back and on the sides of your trunk.

Instructions:

  • Seated in a chair with your knees together
  • Place your arms across your chest
  • Keeping your knees together, twist the upper body and hold for an allocated time
  • Continue to alternate sides
  • You should twist to your maximum comfortable range

Main muscles targeted:

  • Thoracic spine

Main benefits:

This exercise is used to increase the mobility of your thoracic region. It is usually a precursor to stronger variations, however can be a strong stretch when progressively increased over time. The more you perform this exercise the further you may be able to rotate.
